Vem var först med att identifiera krisens rötter?

Peter Schiff, augusti 2006, författare av Crash Proof, president of Euro Pacific Capital Inc.:

from Wikipedia: "In an August 2006 interview Schiff generated much controversy when he repeated his long-held investment thesis: "The United States economy is like the Titanic and I am here with the lifeboat trying to get people to leave the ship ...I see a real financial crisis coming for the United States." On May 16, 2006 in debate on Fox News, Schiff accurately forecast that the U.S. housing market was a bubble that would soon burst. On December 13, 2007 in a Bloomberg interview on the show Open Exchange, Schiff further added that he felt that the crisis would extend to the credit card lending industry."

Mises, 1934:

"True, government can reduce the rate of interest in the short run. They can issue additional paper money. They can open the way to credit expansion by the banks. They can thus create an artifical boom and the appearance of prosperity. But such a boom is bound to collapse sooner or later and to bring about a depression."

Adam Smith, 1776, An inquiry into the nature and causes of the wealth of nations:

"[citat kommer där Smith mycket tydligt redogör för hur kreditexpansion leder till depression. Egentligen har Mises tagit hela sitt resonemang från Smith... jag ska bara hitta citatet igen]"
